Malmö, Sweden – September 09, 2008 – The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) earned a Stevie Award for Most Innovative Company in Europe in the 2008 International Business Awards program.

With an entry “A Wireless Teenager Ready for the Future”, the Bluetooth SIG highlighted the milestones and innovations of the last year including the 10th anniversary of the technology, development of Bluetooth low energy technology, Bluetooth high speed technology and the end-user focus of v2.1+EDR.

“Over the past year, Bluetooth technology has grown tremendously within the industry and with consumers. And we understand that the way to keep meeting the needs of the marketplace and be relevant in the future is to keep innovating,” said Mike Foley, Executive Director of the Bluetooth SIG.

The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business. Recipients of International Stevie Award trophies were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in more than 30 countries. Organizations all over the world are eligible to compete in The International Business Awards, and can enter in any of more than 40 categories from Best Multinational Company and Best New Product to Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Executive.

“Entries to the IBAs grew 65% this year and that illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide,” said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs.  “We congratulate all of the Finalists and International Stevie Awards winners.”

“We are honored to have been selected as this year’s most innovative company in Europe” said Anders Edlund, EMEA marketing director of the Bluetooth SIG, who received the award at the gala awards dinner in Dublin on September 8. “Over the past year we have been working very hard together with our member companies on innovative solutions that provide benefits to all businesses and consumers. It’s impressive that we can have member companies from all over the world – many who compete with each other – come together around a commitment to innovation and to make Bluetooth technology the standard for short range wireless connectivity.”

About Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
Bluetooth wireless technology is the global short-range wireless standard for personal connectivity of a broad range of electronic devices. The technology continues to evolve, building on its inherent strengths – small-form factor radio, low power, low cost, built-in security, robustness, ease-of-use, and ad hoc networking abilities. More than nine new Bluetooth enabled products are qualified every working day and 18 million Bluetooth units are shipping per week. There are nearly two billion Bluetooth devices in the marketplace and that number climbs daily, making it the only proven wireless choice for developers, product manufacturers, and consumers worldwide.
